Microsoft Releases Security Advisory for Internet Explorer

Microsoft has announced a vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. This vulnerability may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code if a user accesses a specially crafted website. Microsoft is aware of targeted attacks that attempt to exploit this vulnerability.

There is a work-around, but to quote Microsoft “The Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) helps mitigate the exploitation of this vulnerability by adding additional protection layers that make the vulnerability harder to exploit.” Harder to exploit does not mean you are protected.

Our best advice – don’t use Internet Explorer until a full fix is issued.
