Check your account settings – Click on your user icon (top right of the screen), then select ‘settings’. On that screen there should be a line there that reads:

“Your safety level Your account has been reviewed as safe by Flickr staff. (What does that mean?)”

I suspect that because you’ve had all your images set to private, your account may be currently rated as “unsafe” Which prevents you from setting a cover photo.

That’s the only thing I can think of. The ‘Safe’ status can take a little while to kick in. Having a few ‘safe’ public pictures might help.

I don’t like the new version.
But I think one day there will no opt out option available.
And I think it is much better to leave the comments under the picture.

You can go back to old layout (for the moment at least). Click on ‘Help & Feedback’ and then on ‘Opt out of the new Photo Experience’ Also I’d recommend that you leave feedback on what you don’t like. A lot of people are requesting that the comments are moved back under the picture.

I checked a picture with a lot of comments – and for short snappy comments it wasn’t too bad. But longer comments are going to be an issue.

The new layout is now already there, I don’t like this Gary.
So many things are changed, but the worse idea is the comments.
Almost impossible to read the comments in this very small box.
