Here’s a simple fix for the error message “This dictionary is not supported in your country” on Kindle for PC.

The Kindle for PC reader is a great resource, I use it to organize, read and add notes to various informational brochures (in pdf format) as well as books I’ve purchased from Amazon. One problem was driving me crazy though. All of a sudden the built-in dictionary stopped working. It took me a long time to find a solution online as most of the links I found went to unrelated issues. This short article will hopefully help others stuck with this message . The solution that worked for me was very simple!

To fix the This dictionary is not supported in your country message

Highlight a word in a book’s text, which will bring up the error message. Click on the gear-wheel icon in the top right of the pop-up window and click on the dictionary you want your Kindle for PC app to use.  That was all I needed to do. In the various forums I visited there were lots of discussions on how to re-install an accidentally deleted dictionary, if that’s your problem a Google search may point you in the right direction. Here’s one of the Google searches I tried.
